The British-Bulgarian Friendship society was established in 1952. It is a non-political
organisation whose aims are to promote friendship, understanding and cultural relations
between the people of Britain and Bulgaria. As well as providing information on aspects
of life in Bulgaria and organising specialist tours for ornithologists, natural historians,
social historians, geographers and folklore enthusiasts, there is a regular newletter
(available by e-mail on request), and also lectures and concerts.
Membership of the British-Bulgarian Friendship Society is open to any individual, organisaton
or firm resident in Great Britain who agree to pay the prescribed subscription or affiliation fee.
All members of the Society are entitled to attend any of the functions organised
by the Society. There is also a small library available for the members use.
Individuals have the right to attend the Annual General Meeting and to vote for and be
elected to the Executive Committee and positions of Officers provided they have been members
for over a year and their subscriptions are up to date.
Affiliated organisations and firms have the right to send one delegate to the Society's
AGM and to attend the meetings of the Executive Committee where they can participate in
discussion but not vote.
